Flood Sensor Connection

The integrated flood sensor is a passive component and requires an add-on connection kit to be activated for communication and alerts. Without this kit, the sensor will not communicate with other devices. Connection kit options include those for BMS (Building Management Systems), cellular communication, or the Sensor Control Monitor, which allows integration with BAS (Building Automation Systems) via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi. A retrofit sensor connection kit is also available for existing installations to extend flood monitoring capabilities.

Additional Details

This 6 inch lead free MasterSeries® LF866 reduced pressure detector backflow preventer assembly is designed to protect potable drinking water systems against backpressure and backsiphonage conditions for high hazard/toxic applications, primarily in industrial installations.

Main Valve Features

  • Ductile iron valve body design with ArmorTek® coating technology applied to internal and external surfaces to resist microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal substrate.
  • Stainless steel relief valve seat and stainless steel check components for maximum performance and durability.
  • Inline serviceable assembly; no special tools required for servicing check modules.
  • Captured modular spring assembly, reversible and replaceable discs, and field replaceable seats.
  • Modular and repairable pressure differential relief valve.
  • Clapper check assembly and captured O-ring design.

Flood Sensor & Detection

  • Includes a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology on the relief valve to detect excessive water discharges.
  • The flood sensor relays a signal that can trigger a multichannel alert (call, email, text) to notify personnel about potential flooding when activated by an add-on connection kit.
  • NOTICE: An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor. Without the connection kit, the flood sensor is a passive component that does not communicate with any other device.
  • NOTICE: Use of the flood sensor does not replace the need to comply with all required instructions, codes, and regulations related to installation, operation, and maintenance of this product, including the need to provide proper drainage in the event of a discharge. Watts® is not responsible for the failure of alerts due to connectivity issues, power outages, or improper installation.

Auxiliary Bypass Features

  • Compact design that remains within the main valve assembly profile.
  • Includes a 5/8 inch x 3/4 inch water meter for cubic feet per minute (CFM) totalizing.
  • Inline serviceable 3/4 inch check assembly; no special tools required.
  • Field replaceable seat and disc.
  • Designed to detect potential underground water leaks and unauthorized water usage.

FAQs

What is the primary function of the FEBCO LF866 Reduced Pressure Detector Backflow Preventer?

This backflow preventer assembly is designed to protect potable drinking water systems from contamination due to backpressure and backsiphonage, especially in high hazard/toxic industrial applications. It ensures non-potable quality water does not flow back into the potable system.

What is ArmorTek® coating and why is it important?

ArmorTek® is a patented three-part advanced epoxy system applied to the internal and external surfaces of the ductile iron body. It is engineered to reduce microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal substrates, significantly enhancing the durability and lifespan of the backflow preventer.

How does the flood sensor feature work with the LF866 assembly?

The assembly includes a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve. When an add-on connection kit is used, the sensor activates to relay signals, triggering alerts (call, email, text) to notify personnel of potential flooding events.

What are the main materials used in the construction of this backflow preventer?

The main valve body and relief valve body are made from Ductile iron Grade 65-45-12. Key internal components like relief valve seats, check seats, disc holders, and springs are stainless steel, while elastomer discs are made of silicone. The ductile iron is protected by an ArmorTek® powder coating.

What are the operating pressure and temperature limits for this device?

The maximum working pressure for the LF866 assembly is 175 PSI (12.1 bar), with a minimum working pressure of 20 PSI (1.4 bar). It is designed to operate continuously within a temperature range of 33°F to 140°F (0.5°C to 60°C).
