Description

The FEBCO MasterSeries® LF880W/WZ is a 6-inch lead free reduced pressure zone backflow preventer assembly designed to protect potable water systems from high hazard contamination. Featuring an N-pattern configuration and domestic OSY shutoff valves, this assembly is ideal for industrial applications. Its ductile iron body is coated with ArmorTek® for superior corrosion resistance, while stainless steel relief valve seats and check components ensure long-term performance and durability. An integrated SentryPlus Alert® flood sensor provides early detection of excessive relief valve discharge, enhancing system safety when paired with an add-on connection kit. Item number F8007368.

Installation Orientation

  • This assembly is approved for Horizontal (N-Pattern) installations.
  • Can also be installed in Vertical Up (Z-Pattern) orientation for other models, but this specific model is N-Pattern.

Flood Sensor Activation

  • The integrated flood sensor requires an add-on connection kit to become active and communicate alerts.
  • Connection kit options include BMS, cellular communication, or the Sensor Control Monitor for integration with BAS via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi.
  • Ensure proper drainage is provided for any discharge, as the sensor does not replace this requirement.

Competitor Drop-in Replacement

  • Designed with a longer gate-to-gate length to allow for direct drop-in replacement of existing N-pattern competitor backflow preventer valves.

Additional Details

This 6 inch lead free FEBCO MasterSeries® reduced pressure zone backflow preventer assembly provides protection against high hazard (toxic) fluids in potable water services for industrial installations and applications.

Featuring a longer gate-to-gate lay-length, this N-pattern assembly is designed for drop-in replacement of competitor’s valves and includes domestic OSY resilient seated gate valves, test cocks, spring-loaded check valves, and a pressure differential relief valve.

Construction & Durability

  • Equipped with an ArmorTek® powder coating on the ductile iron valve body and internals, offering integrated protection against electrochemical and microbial-induced corrosion.
  • Features a stainless steel relief valve seat and stainless steel check components for maximum performance and extended valve life.
  • Reversible and replaceable discs and field replaceable seats contribute to maintainability.
  • Inline serviceable assembly design requires no special tools for maintenance.

Flood Detection & Alerts

  • Integrates a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve.
  • An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor for communication. Without the kit, the sensor is passive. Watts is not responsible for alert failures due to connectivity issues, power outages, or improper installation.
  • When activated by a connection kit, the sensor relays signals for potential flooding events via BMS, cellular communication, or the Sensor Control Monitor (integrates with BAS via RS-485 Modbus or Nexa® platform via Wi-Fi).

FAQs

What type of protection does this backflow preventer provide?

This backflow preventer is a reduced pressure zone (RPZ) assembly designed to protect potable water systems from high hazard (toxic) fluids due to backpressure and backsiphonage conditions.

Is this backflow preventer lead free?

Yes, this FEBCO MasterSeries® LF880W/WZ assembly features Lead Free construction, meaning the wetted surface contacted by consumable water contains less than 0.25% lead by weight.

What is the purpose of the flood sensor, and how is it activated?

The integrated flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve. It requires an add-on connection kit (sold separately) to be activated and communicate alerts via BMS, cellular, or Wi-Fi.

What are the main components that contribute to the durability of this assembly?

Key durability features include an ArmorTek® powder coated ductile iron body for corrosion resistance, along with stainless steel relief valve seats and stainless steel check components for maximum performance and extended valve life.

What are the maximum operating pressure and temperature range for this backflow preventer?

This assembly has a maximum working pressure of 175 psi (12.1 bar) and can operate continuously within a temperature range of 33°F to 140°F (0.5°C to 60°C).
