Description

The FEBCO MasterSeries LF880W Reduced Pressure Zone Backflow Preventer Assembly, 6 inch, is a lead-free device designed to protect potable water systems from high hazard toxic fluids caused by backpressure and backsiphonage. This N-pattern model features a longer lay length, allowing for drop-in replacement of competitor valves. Constructed with a durable ductile iron body and ArmorTek® corrosion-resistant coating, it ensures longevity. Key components include a stainless-steel relief valve seat and check components for maximum performance. An integrated flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology detects excessive water discharge, capable of relaying alerts when paired with an add-on connection kit. This assembly is provided without shutoff valves.

Compatibility & Connections

This 6-inch backflow preventer is designed for drop-in replacement of competitor's N-pattern valves, offering a longer gate-to-gate lay length. Its end connections are compliant with ASME B16.1 Class 125 and AWWA Class D Flange standards.

For enhanced monitoring, the integrated flood sensor can be activated by an add-on connection kit (sold separately). These kits allow for communication with:

  • Building Automation Systems (BMS)
  • Cellular communication networks
  • The Sensor Control Monitor for integration with BAS via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi.

Additional Details

The 6 inch Lead Free FEBCO MasterSeries LF880W Reduced Pressure Zone Backflow Preventer Assembly is designed to protect potable drinking water systems from high hazard (toxic) fluids due to backpressure and backsiphonage conditions. This assembly is suitable for industrial installations and applications, featuring a longer lay-length for drop-in replacement in N-pattern orientations.

This backflow preventer assembly is supplied without shutoff valves and includes a lead free body, test cocks, spring-loaded check valves, and a pressure differential relief valve. It incorporates ArmorTek® coating technology to protect iron components from corrosion and features a stainless-steel relief valve seat and stainless-steel check components for enhanced performance and durability.

Flood Sensor Features

  • Equipped with a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve.
  • When paired with an add-on connection kit, the sensor activates to relay alerts for potential flooding events.
  • Connection kit options allow integration with Building Automation Systems (BMS), cellular communication, or the Nexa® platform via Wi-Fi.

Construction & Design

  • Lead Free construction complies with low lead installation requirements.
  • Designed for inline serviceability without special tools.
  • Features a captured modular spring assembly and clapper check assembly.
  • Includes reversible and replaceable discs and field replaceable seats.
  • Ductile iron valve body design.

An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor; without it, the sensor is a passive component that does not communicate. The flood sensor does not replace compliance with all installation, operation, and maintenance instructions, codes, and regulations, including proper drainage for discharge. Watts is not responsible for alert failures due to connectivity issues, power outages, or improper installation.

FAQs

What is the primary purpose of the FEBCO MasterSeries LF880W backflow preventer?

This 6 inch Reduced Pressure Zone (RPZ) backflow preventer is designed to protect potable drinking water supplies from contamination by high hazard (toxic) fluids due to backpressure and backsiphonage conditions. It is typically used in industrial and commercial water service applications.

Is this 6-inch backflow preventer assembly lead-free?

Yes, the FEBCO MasterSeries LF880W is constructed with Lead Free materials, ensuring compliance with low lead installation requirements and state codes for potable water systems.

Does this backflow preventer come with shutoff valves?

No, this specific model (LG configuration) is supplied without shutoff valves. Shutoff valves would need to be purchased separately if required for the installation.

What is the maximum operating pressure and temperature for this backflow assembly?

The maximum working pressure for this unit is 175 psi (12.1 bar). It can operate continuously within a temperature range of 33°F to 140°F (0.5°C to 60°C).

How does the integrated flood sensor function?

The flood sensor uses SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve. When an add-on connection kit is installed, the sensor activates to relay alerts to personnel via multichannel alerts or integration with Building Automation Systems (BAS).
