Compatibility & Connections

  • Designed for drop-in replacement of competitor’s Z-pattern valves due to its longer lay length.
  • The integrated flood sensor requires an add-on connection kit for activation and communication.
  • Connection kit options include those for Building Automation Systems (BMS) or cellular communication.
  • The flood sensor integrates with the Sensor Control Monitor for alerts via RS-485 Modbus (BAS) or the Nexa® platform (Wi-Fi).

Additional Details

This 6 inch lead free MasterSeries® reduced pressure detector backflow preventer assembly (RPDA) protects against high hazard (toxic) fluids in industrial water service installations and applications. It features a longer Z-pattern lay length for competitor drop-in replacement, comes without shutoff valves, and includes a gallons per minute (GPM) metered bypass and an integrated flood sensor.

Main Valve Features

  • Constructed with a ductile iron valve body and coated with ArmorTek® corrosion resistant technology.
  • Equipped with a stainless steel relief valve seat and stainless steel check components for maximum performance and durability.
  • Designed for longer gate-to-gate length to allow drop-in replacement of existing longer valves.
  • Features an inline serviceable assembly, requiring no special tools for maintenance.
  • Includes a captured modular spring assembly, reversible and replaceable discs, and field replaceable seats.
  • Utilizes a modular and repairable pressure differential relief valve with clapper check assembly and captured O-ring design.

Flood Sensor Details

  • Integrated sensor on the relief valve for flood detection with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect continuous discharge.
  • Activated by an add-on connection kit for BMS or cellular network communication.
  • Can be integrated with the Sensor Control Monitor for alerts via RS-485 Modbus (BAS) or the Nexa® platform (Wi-Fi).

An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor for alert relay. Without the connection kit, the flood sensor is a passive component that does not communicate with any other device.

Auxiliary Bypass Features

  • Features a compact design that remains within the main valve assembly profile.
  • Includes an inline serviceable 3/4" check assembly, requiring no special tools for servicing.
  • Designed with a field replaceable seat and disc.
  • Capable of detecting potential underground water leaks and unauthorized water usage.

FAQs

What is the primary use of this backflow preventer assembly?

This 6 inch MasterSeries® LF886W/WZ reduced pressure detector backflow preventer assembly is used to protect potable drinking water systems from high hazard (toxic) fluids in industrial installations and applications, preventing backpressure and backsiphonage.

Does this assembly come with shutoff valves?

No, this specific LF886W/WZ model (SKU F8007419) is supplied without shutoff valves.

How does the integrated flood sensor work?

The flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology detects continuous water discharge from the relief valve. To activate its alert relay function for BMS or cellular communication, an add-on connection kit is required.

What is the purpose of the GPM metered bypass?

The gallons per minute (GPM) metered bypass is included to help detect potential underground water leaks and unauthorized water usage within the system, providing an additional layer of monitoring.

What are the main body materials and coatings used?

The main valve body and relief valve body are constructed from ductile iron Grade 65-45-12. All internal and external surfaces are coated with ArmorTek®, a patented advanced epoxy system designed to resist corrosion.
