Additional Details

This 8 inch stainless steel reduced pressure zone backflow preventer assembly is designed to prevent the reverse flow of contaminated water of non-potable quality from being pumped or siphoned into the potable water supply due to backsiphonage and or backpressure. It is ideal for protection at cross-connections identified as health hazard applications and from other contaminants found at the service line entrance.

Features

  • Stainless steel construction provides long-term corrosion resistance and maximum strength.
  • The stainless steel body is half the weight of competitive designs, reducing installation and shipping costs.
  • Short end-to-end dimensions make retrofitting easy.
  • Cam-check assembly provides maximum flow at low pressure drop.
  • No special tools required for servicing.
  • Compact construction allows for smaller enclosures.
  • Stainless steel relief valve features a balanced rolling diaphragm to eliminate sliding seals and lower maintenance costs.
  • Equipped with domestic non-rising stem resilient seated gate valves.
  • Includes a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve.
  • The flood sensor is installed on the assembly exterior and relays a signal to trigger notification to facility personnel.
  • An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor's alert feature. Without the connection kit, the flood sensor is a passive component that has no communication with any any other device.

FAQs

What is the primary function of this backflow preventer?

This 8 inch reduced pressure zone assembly is designed to prevent contaminated, non-potable water from entering the potable water supply due to backsiphonage or backpressure, protecting health hazard cross-connections.

What type of gate valves are included with this assembly?

The assembly features domestic non-rising stem (NRS) resilient seated gate valves, which offer reliable shutoff.

How does the integrated flood sensor work?

The SentryPlus Alert® flood sensor detects excessive water discharge from the relief valve. When an add-on connection kit is installed, the sensor relays a signal to alert facility personnel of potential flooding events.

What material is the main valve body made from?

The main valve body is constructed from 300 Series stainless steel, providing long-term corrosion resistance and strength while being lightweight.

Is this backflow preventer approved by specific standards?

Yes, this assembly meets AWWA C511-92, ASSE 1013, and CSA B64.5 standards.
