Additional Details

This 8 inch lead free FEBCO MasterSeries® LF866 Reduced Pressure Zone Detector Backflow Preventer Assembly is designed to protect potable drinking water systems from high hazard (toxic) fluids caused by backpressure and backsiphonage conditions.

Key Features

  • Designed with a ductile iron valve body and stainless steel check components for maximum performance and durability.
  • Includes an integral flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve.
  • Features an auxiliary bypass line with a 5/8 inch x 3/4 inch cubic feet per minute (CFM) water meter to detect potential underground water leaks or unauthorized water usage.
  • The assembly is inline serviceable, with no special tools required for maintenance of check modules.
  • Features modular spring assembly, reversible and replaceable discs, and field replaceable seats.
  • Equipped with ball valve test cocks.

Corrosion Protection

  • The ductile iron components are coated with ArmorTek®, a patented three-part advanced epoxy system engineered to reduce microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal substrates.
  • Improved with a stainless steel relief valve seat for extended valve life and greater dependability.

Lead Free Compliance

  • Constructed with Lead Free materials to comply with low lead installation requirements, containing less than 0.25% of lead by weight in consumable water contact surfaces.

This assembly is supplied without shutoff valves and is not an approved configuration unless properly installed with appropriate UL Classified and FM Approved OS&Y resilient seated shutoff valves per local codes. An add-on connection kit (not included) is required to activate the flood sensor's alert relay function; without it, the sensor is passive.

FAQs

What is the primary use of this backflow preventer?

This 8 inch FEBCO MasterSeries LF866 is designed to protect potable drinking water systems from backpressure and backsiphonage conditions in high hazard/toxic applications, such as those found in industrial settings.

Does this assembly include shutoff valves?

No, this specific assembly (LG option) is supplied without shutoff valves. Appropriate UL Classified and FM Approved OS&Y resilient seated shutoff valves must be purchased separately and installed for a complete, approved configuration.

How does the flood sensor function?

The integral flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve. To activate its alert relay function for notifications (e.g., via BMS or cellular), an add-on connection kit is required and sold separately.

What is ArmorTek® coating and why is it important?

ArmorTek® is a patented three-part advanced epoxy coating system applied to the ductile iron components. It is engineered to reduce microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal substrates, enhancing the durability and lifespan of the backflow preventer.

What is the purpose of the bypass assembly?

The bypass assembly includes a 5/8 inch x 3/4 inch cubic feet per minute (CFM) water meter. This meter is designed to detect potential underground water leaks or unauthorized water usage within the system, helping to conserve water and identify issues.
