Additional Details

This 8 inch lead free MasterSeries® configurable reduced pressure zone backflow preventer assembly is designed to protect potable water systems from high hazard (toxic) backpressure and backsiphonage conditions in industrial installations and applications.

It offers a longer lay-length for convenient drop-in replacement of competitor’s N-pattern valves.

Features

  • N-pattern configuration for drop-in replacement of competitor valves
  • Includes a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve
  • Stainless steel relief valve seat and stainless steel check components for maximum performance and durability
  • Modular and repairable pressure differential relief valve
  • Field reversible relief valve
  • Captured modular spring assembly and clapper check assembly
  • Reversible and replaceable discs
  • Field replaceable seats
  • Inline serviceable assembly; no special tools required

Construction

  • Ductile iron valve body design
  • Iron components are coated with ArmorTek®, a patented three-part advanced epoxy system engineered to reduce microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal substrate
  • Lead Free construction to comply with low lead installation requirements (wetted surface contains less than 0.25% of lead by weight)
  • Equipped with domestic OSY resilient seated gate valves and test cocks

Flood Sensor Technology

  • Flood sensor detects continuous discharge from the relief valve
  • An add-on connection kit (sold separately) is required to activate the flood sensor, enabling it to relay alerts for potential flooding events via BMS, cellular communication, or integration with BAS via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi

An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor. Without the connection kit, the flood sensor is a passive component that does not communicate with any other device. The flood sensor does not replace the need to comply with all required instructions, codes, and regulations related to installation, operation, and maintenance of this product, including the need to provide proper drainage in the event of a discharge.

FAQs

What is the primary function of the FEBCO 8 LF880W-DOSY RP-FS backflow preventer?

This 8-inch Lead Free Reduced Pressure Zone (RPZ) backflow preventer is designed to protect potable drinking water systems from contamination due to high hazard (toxic) backpressure and backsiphonage conditions in industrial and commercial installations.

Does this backflow preventer comply with "Lead Free" requirements?

Yes, the FEBCO 8 LF880W-DOSY RP-FS features Lead Free construction, meaning the wetted surface of the product that contacts consumable water contains less than 0.25% lead by weight, complying with low lead installation requirements.

How does the ArmorTek coating enhance the durability of this backflow preventer?

The ArmorTek coating is a patented three-part advanced epoxy system applied to the ductile iron components. It is engineered to reduce microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal substrates, significantly extending the lifespan and reliability of the backflow preventer.

What is the purpose of the SentryPlus Alert® flood sensor, and how is it activated?

The SentryPlus Alert® flood sensor detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve, signaling potential flooding. To activate the sensor and enable alert relaying (e.g., via BMS or cellular network), an add-on connection kit (sold separately) is required. Without the kit, the sensor remains passive.

What type of shutoff valves are included with the 8 LF880W-DOSY RP-FS assembly?

This assembly is fitted with domestic OSY (Outside Stem & Yoke) resilient seated gate valves, which are UL Classified and FM Approved, and comply with AWWA C5115 standards.
