Help Me Connect

Main Line Connections

  • This 8 inch detector assembly is designed for installation on potable water supply systems at points of cross-connection for high hazard/toxic applications.
  • The inlet and outlet connections are fitted with domestic OSY (Outside Stem & Yoke) resilient seated shutoff valves.
  • End connections are compliant to ASME B16.1 Class 125 and AWWA Class D Flange standards.

Flood Sensor Connectivity

  • The integrated flood sensor on the relief valve is a passive component until activated by an add-on connection kit.
  • Connection kit options include those for BMS (Building Management Systems) or cellular network communication.
  • For integration with BAS (Building Automation Systems) via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi connectivity, the sensor can pair with a Sensor Control Monitor.

Bypass Connections

  • The auxiliary bypass line includes a 5/8" x 3/4" water meter for monitoring small flows, leaks, or unauthorized usage.

Additional Details

The FEBCO 8 inch LF886V Reduced Pressure Zone Detector Assembly is designed to protect potable drinking water systems against backpressure and backsiphonage conditions in high hazard and toxic applications, commonly found in industrial installations.

This assembly features a patented ArmorTek® 3-part advanced epoxy coating system for superior corrosion resistance and a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect excessive water discharge from the relief valve.

Construction & Design

  • Ductile iron valve body with ArmorTek® powder coating for internal and external surfaces to resist microbial-induced (MIC) and exposed metal substrate corrosion.
  • Equipped with domestic OSY (Outside Stem & Yoke) resilient wedge gate shutoff valves, UL Classified and FM Approved.
  • Features a stainless steel relief valve seat and stainless steel check components for maximum performance and durability.
  • Inline serviceable assembly and captured modular spring assembly requiring no special tools.
  • Includes reversible and replaceable discs and field replaceable seats.
  • Designed with a modular and repairable pressure differential relief valve and clapper check assembly.

Flood Detection & Bypass

  • Integrated flood sensor on the relief valve detects excessive water discharge.
  • The flood sensor relays a signal for potential flooding alerts, requiring an add-on connection kit for activation.
  • Auxiliary bypass line with a 5/8" x 3/4" cubic feet per minute (CFM) water meter (ANSI/AWWA C700 Compliant) helps detect potential underground water leaks and unauthorized water usage.
  • The bypass features an inline serviceable 3/4" check assembly with field replaceable seat and disc.

NOTICE: An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor. Without the connection kit, the flood sensor is a passive component that does not communicate with any other device. Use of the flood sensor does not replace the need to comply with all required instructions, codes, and regulations related to installation, operation, and maintenance of this product, including the need to provide proper drainage in the event of a discharge.

FAQs

What is the primary function of this backflow preventer?

This 8 inch FEBCO LF886V assembly is designed to protect potable drinking water systems from contamination due to backpressure and backsiphonage, specifically for high hazard/toxic applications in industrial settings.

What does "Lead Free" mean for this product?

"Lead Free" indicates that the wetted surface of this product, which contacts consumable water, contains less than 0.25% of lead by weight, complying with low lead installation requirements.

How does the ArmorTek® coating protect the assembly?

The ArmorTek® coating is a patented three-part advanced epoxy system applied to the ductile iron body. It is engineered to reduce microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal substrates, enhancing the durability and lifespan of the backflow preventer.

What is the purpose of the integrated flood sensor?

The flood sensor, featuring SentryPlus Alert® technology, detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve. When activated with an add-on connection kit, it can relay signals to notify personnel about potential flooding events.

What type of shutoff valves are included with this assembly?

This assembly includes domestic OSY (Outside Stem & Yoke) resilient wedge gate shutoff valves, which are UL Classified and FM Approved for reliable isolation.
