Connections and Compatibility

This 8 inch LF886V backflow preventer is designed for horizontal (N-Pattern) flow orientation and features end connections compliant to ASME B16.1 Class 125 and AWWA Class D Flange standards. The integral SentryPlus Alert® flood sensor requires an add-on connection kit to activate and communicate alerts. Connection kit options enable integration with a Building Automation System (BAS) via RS-485 Modbus, cellular communication, or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi connectivity for maintenance alerts.

Additional Details

The 8 inch lead free MasterSeries® LF886V Reduced Pressure Zone Detector Backflow Preventer assembly is designed to protect potable water systems against backpressure and backsiphonage conditions for high hazard and toxic applications in industrial settings.

This assembly with domestic OSY shutoff valves features a ductile iron body, replaceable stainless steel check seats, a bypass, and ball valve test cocks. The ductile iron body is fused with patented 3-part ArmorTek® epoxy coating for advanced corrosion resistance, which limits both microbial induced corrosion (MIC) and exposed metal substrate corrosion.

Key Features

  • Equipped with a SentryPlus Alert® flood sensor to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve. When paired with an add-on connection kit, the sensor activates to relay alerts for potential flooding events.
  • Stainless steel relief valve seat and stainless steel check components for maximum performance and durability, yielding extended valve life.
  • Inline serviceable assembly and bypass check assembly require no special tools.
  • Features reversible and replaceable discs and field replaceable seats.
  • Ductile iron valve body design with ArmorTek coating technology resists internal corrosion.
  • Modular and repairable pressure differential relief valve and clapper check assembly.
  • Captured O-ring design for reliable sealing.

NOTICE: An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor. Without this kit, the flood sensor is a passive component and will not communicate with other devices. The use of the flood sensor does not replace the need to comply with all required instructions, codes, and regulations related to installation, operation, and maintenance of this product, including the need to provide proper drainage in the event of a discharge. Watts® is not responsible for the failure of alerts due to connectivity issues, power outages, or improper installation.

FAQs

What is the primary purpose of the 8 inch LF886V Reduced Pressure Zone Detector Assembly?

This backflow preventer is designed to protect potable drinking water systems from contamination due to backpressure and backsiphonage, especially in high hazard or toxic applications in industrial and commercial installations.

What is ArmorTek coating, and how does it benefit this product?

ArmorTek is a patented three-part advanced epoxy coating applied to the ductile iron components. It significantly reduces microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protects exposed metal surfaces, extending the life and dependability of the backflow preventer.

Does this assembly include a flood sensor, and how does it function?

Yes, it includes a SentryPlus Alert® flood sensor on the relief valve. When an add-on connection kit is installed, the sensor detects excessive water discharge and relays a signal to notify personnel about potential flooding via call, email, or text.

What are the main materials used for the body and internal components of the LF886V?

The main valve and relief valve bodies are constructed from ductile iron (Grade 65-45-12). Internal components such as check seats, relief valve seat, disc holder, and springs are made of stainless steel, with silicone used for the elastomer disc.

What are the typical operating pressure and temperature ranges for this backflow preventer?

The assembly has a maximum working pressure of 175 PSI and a minimum working pressure of 20 PSI. It can operate continuously within a temperature range of 33°F to 140°F (0.5°C to 60°C).
