Connections & Compatibility

This FEBCO MasterSeries LF886WZ backflow preventer is specifically designed to provide a drop-in replacement for competitor's valves with a Z-pattern orientation and longer lay-length. It is approved for use in both horizontal (N-Pattern) and vertical up (Z-Pattern) installations. The main valve body is configured with inlet/outlet resilient seated shutoff valves compliant to ASME B16.1 Class 125 & AWWA Class D Flange for end connections.

Flood Sensor Activation

  • The integrated SentryPlus Alert® flood sensor requires an add-on connection kit to be fully activated.
  • Connection kit options include BMS, cellular communication, or the Sensor Control Monitor.
  • The Sensor Control Monitor enables integration with Building Automation Systems (BAS) via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi connectivity.

Without an add-on connection kit, the flood sensor acts as a passive component and does not communicate alerts.

Additional Details

This 8 inch lead free MasterSeries® reduced pressure detector backflow preventer assembly protects against high hazard (toxic) fluids in water services for industrial installations and applications.

It features a longer lay-length for drop-in replacement of competitor’s Z-pattern valves and an N-pattern assembly. This unit includes domestic outside stem and yoke (OS&Y) shutoff valves, a ductile iron body, replaceable stainless steel check seats, a cubic feet per minute (CFM) metered bypass, and ball valve test cocks. Improved with a stainless-steel relief valve seat, these rugged assemblies yield greater dependability and extended valve life.

This backflow assembly contains a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve.

Features

  • Stainless steel relief valve seat and stainless steel check components for maximum performance and durability
  • Longer gate-to-gate length for drop-in replacement of competitor Z-pattern valves
  • Inline serviceable assembly; no special tools required
  • Captured modular spring assembly
  • Reversible and replaceable discs
  • Field replaceable seats
  • Ductile iron valve body design
  • ArmorTek® coating technology to resist corrosion of internals
  • Modular and repairable pressure differential relief valve
  • Clapper check assembly
  • Captured O-ring design
  • Sensor on relief valve for flood detection, activated by add-on connection kit for BMS or cellular network communication

Auxiliary Bypass Features

  • Compact design; remains in main valve assembly profile
  • Inline serviceable 3/4" check assembly; no special tools required
  • Field replaceable seat and disc
  • Detect potential underground water leaks
  • Detect unauthorized water usage
  • 5/8" x 3/4" Water Meter (Totalizing cubic ft/min)

An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor. Without the connection kit, the flood sensor is a passive component that does not communicate with any other device. The use of the flood sensor does not replace the need to comply with all required instructions, codes, and regulations related to installation, operation, and maintenance of this product, including the need to provide proper drainage in the event of a discharge.

FAQs

What is the primary function of the FEBCO LF886WZ backflow preventer?

This assembly is designed to protect potable water supply systems from backpressure and backsiphonage conditions, specifically for high hazard or toxic fluid applications in industrial settings.

Is this backflow preventer suitable as a replacement for existing units?

Yes, the LF886WZ model features a longer lay-length specifically engineered for drop-in replacement of competitor's Z-pattern valves, simplifying installation.

What type of corrosion protection does this assembly have?

The ductile iron components of the backflow preventer are coated with ArmorTek®, a patented three-part advanced epoxy system that reduces microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protects exposed metal surfaces.

How does the integrated flood sensor work, and what is its purpose?

The flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve. When paired with an add-on connection kit, it relays signals for potential flooding via BMS, cellular, or Wi-Fi communication.

What kind of bypass meter is included with this assembly?

This assembly includes a 5/8" x 3/4" water meter that totalizes cubic feet per minute (CFM), compliant with ANSI/AWWA Standard C700, to detect leaks or unauthorized water usage.
