Application & Protection
- This 8 inch backflow preventer is installed on potable water systems to protect against contamination from backsiphonage and backpressure.
- It is suitable for health hazard cross-connections, such as those found on fire sprinkler systems or other service line entrances with contaminants.
Flood Sensor Activation
The integrated flood sensor requires an add-on sensor connection kit to be activated for communication and flood alerts through Building Management Systems (BMS) or cellular networks. Without this kit, the sensor remains a passive component with no external communication.

Additional Details
The 8 inch Watts Lead Free Series LF957ZRPDA Reduced Pressure Detector Backflow Preventer Assembly provides critical protection for potable water systems from contamination in accordance with national plumbing codes.
This assembly is designed to prevent the reverse flow of non-potable fire protection substances and other contaminants into the potable water supply due to backsiphonage or backpressure, ideal for health hazard cross-connections like fire sprinkler systems.
Construction & Operation
- Features a durable 304 (Schedule 40) stainless steel housing and sleeve with a quick access design for ease of serviceability.
- Includes two independent torsion spring check modules with a patented torsion spring check design for lowest pressure loss and reversible silicone or EPDM check discs.
- Equipped with domestic outside stem and yoke (OSY) resilient seated gate valves for reliable shutoff control.
- A corrosive resistant bottom mounted pressure relief valve helps prevent overpressure.
- A gallons per minute (GPM) meter is included in the bypass assembly to detect underground leaks and monitor unauthorized water use.
- An integrated flood sensor on the relief valve detects excessive water discharges, providing an alert feature when activated with an add-on sensor connection kit. Note: An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor. Without the connection kit, the sensor is a passive component and has no communication with other devices.
- Designed in a Z-pattern orientation.
Key Benefits
- Lead Free* construction ensures compliance with current installation requirements, containing less than 0.25% lead by weight.
- Extremely compact design, approximately 70% lighter than traditional backflow preventers.
- Groove fittings allow for integral pipeline adjustment.
- No special tools are required for servicing.
